Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment was selected for the Steering Committee of Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) at its 24th Intergovernmental Meeting held on 9 February 2021. He was also appointed as the Vice Chair of the Steering Committee.
The APN is an intergovernmental network that promotes policy-oriented research and capacity-building activities related to global change in the region. It is consisting of 22 member countries in Asia and the Pacific region. Sri Lanka has been engaging in the APN activities since 2000. While the Ministry of Environment acts as the National Focal Point, the Department of Meteorology acts as the Scientific Planning Group Member for APN.
This position is valid for two years and this is the first time that Sri Lanka has been appointed as the Vice Chairman for the Steering Committee of APN.
