The Asian Development bank (ADB) Environment and Climate Change Team had a Courtesy meeting with Mr. B.K. Prabhath Chandrakeerthi, Secretary, Ministry of Environment on 10.01.2024 at “Sobadam piyasa”.

The Asian Development bank (ADB) team elaborated how ADB could support for the role of the Ministry of Environment in the space of environmental safeguards and in tackling the challenges posed by environmental degradation and climate change. Secretary to the Ministry of Environment highlighted the potential collaboration between the Government and ADB for the main environmental initiatives of the government. Further it was discussed regarding inclusion of government priorities to ADB’s country partnership strategy (CPS) for Sri Lanka specially focused on policy based lending, formulation of proposals for most vulnerable areas like costal, central highlands and plantation Sector, natural capital assessments and blended finance.
